Introducing complementary food in preterm infants
All babies will get to a point where breast or formula milk will no longer provide them with all their required nutrients. At this stage, the introduction of solids foods to their diets becomes essential.
The introduction of solid foods will also help babies develop their lip, tongue and jaw movements and the exposure to new tastes and textures will encourage eating a range of foods, which is important for helping them to eat a balanced diet later in life. So how do we know when it is the right time to introduce solids to a preterm baby?
This CPD certified webinar will give you an opportunity to hear from Dr Luise Marino, Honorary Clinical Academic Paediatric Dietitian at the University Hospital Southampton and Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Southampton - giving advice on complementary feeding in preterm infants, when to introduce them, what are the challenges these infants face, and how to support parents/carers during this time.
